Getting Started

Veggie Bowl

So I’ve kicked off my Diva Detox portion of the Diva Makeover.  I explain how this works in the program on the Intro Call so make sure you check it out if you’re confused!

The Diva Makeover is about transformation, not just change and we take it on MIND BODY & SPIRIT.    The  Diva Detox has much to do with the body so the first thing I had to do was get the right tools!

  1.  GET THE TOOLS: I am pretty in the know about how to eat and my kitchen is well-stocked but I know some people are just getting started on this journey and could use a little assistance so check out and purchase a wonderful resource guide from one of my favorite Divas, Dr. Shea of A Natural Healing Affair (www.ANaturalHealingAffair.com).

Her Delicious Nutritious Food Preparation Manual will walk you through EVERYTHING from “what is a carb?” to what tools you need to have in the kitchen!  She also has great RECIPIES for all meals (including snacks) and a shopping list you can take with you to grocery store.  I have this book and am looking forward to playing with it and trying out many of the great recipes!  I suggest joining her Facebook Group & Liking her page too!

  2. GO SHOPPING:  Yep you gotta go stock up your fridge, freezer, and pantry with the good stuff if you’re gonna make it.  Hunger is a beast and when you’re hungry, if you don’t have good stuff readily available you will eat junk.  Do yourself a favor and stack the deck in your favor.

I went shopping and below is a list of what I got.  Please keep in mind that a lot of the things in Dr. Shea’s book I already had so I was supplementing!  There is a formal Diva Makeover Grocery List available for those who make a love offering of at least $5towards the program.

TIP I get my fresh veggies from a local produce market that’s kinda like a Farmer’s Market.  Everything on the list cost me under $35.  Try to find a Farmer’s Market or wholesale fruit/veggie market in your area because most grocery stores don’t make buying veggies cheap!!

SUPPLEMENTS If you’re taking on modifying your eating habits AND a formal detox with herbal supplements you have to get those tools too!  I already ordered mine and these are designed to help  you body systems (all of them Digestive, Circulatory, Respiratory, etc..) get tuned up, cleaned out, and running optimally.  To find out more about the detox visit www.TheDivaDetox.com.  Remember this step is optional, yet HIGHLY recommended, especially for those looking to maximize weight loss while in the program.

  3. TAKE ACTION

This morning I kicked my journey off with my supplements.   After I took my supplements, I pulled out my VitaMix and hooked up a smoothie (I don’t like to cook in the morning, and a good smoothie is quick way to get in a good breakfast).  There are great recipes in Dr. Shea’s guide, but today I went rogue and experimented!   It’s okay to try to your own thing if you know the basics.  I made a green smoothie sweetened with RAW ORGANIC HONEY (none of that stuff in the cute little bear because its been processed).  This smoothie was chock full of good stuff like banana, apple, blueberries, raspberries, spinach, kale, radish, & almonds.

All in all it’s a great start to the Body part of My Diva Makeover, next week I start teaching my fitness classes, but tonight I may go out dancing just to get some movement in.  As we move along in the program please feel free to share how things are going for you in the official Diva Makeover Facebook Group or on our FanPage!
